Arnold: 8 Months

Eight months old - Arnold's first year is flying by. He is getting bigger and more active and coordinated. Arnold is a happy boy. Lots of smiles and giggles. He is content most of the time. He is pretty good sleeper and a good eater. Arnold will sit in his high chair for 30-45 minutes at a time, enjoying whatever I put in front of him to eat. I love to watch him feed himself. So does Sophie...
Arnold, I think, is starting to "understand" some basic signs. He gets excited when I sign "eat" and "more". He is pretty vocal when he wants more. In the past week or so, he is waving "hi"/"bye" - so cute.
No crawling yet, but I think he is getting close. He loves to roll. Diaper changes are becoming a workout.
Arnold is enjoying his toys lately. He likes to sit with his toy basket in the den and try out all the toys. He likes the juice tops from ECFE, too (who needs real toys, right?).
There is nothing better than seeing Arnold first thing in the morning. He is all smiles and is just happy to see us. He loves the "good morning Arnold Ray" song and the "when puppies get up in the morning" song (just like Emma Claire did/does).

I have said it before - I love every stage. It just gets better and better. Couldn't imaging life without Arnold.

Painted Pot

Diane took all the Kadue cousins (and parents and Rowie) to paint pottery last weekend. Emma Claire made a heart plate, I made a huge coffee mug with Arnold's feet and Emma Claire's handprints on it and Rowie made a plate with the same. We had to leave our pottery at the store to be glazed, etc. and Diane returned them to us yesterday.

The final product...

Mr. Independent

I have officially given up on baby food. After a good 6 weeks or so of trying and Arnold just flat out refusing to open his mouth for it, I discovered that he LOVES to feed himself. It started with puffs and now we have moved to fruit and veggies cut into tiny pieces.
Now, much of my "free" time is spent cutting peas in half :-)

We're All Have our Issues

I took Sophie in to the vet yesterday for a "mental health evaluation". She has had increasingly apparent behavioral "issues" lately (i.e. - going to the bathroom in Emma Claire's room). I needed some guidance. I don't want to "give her to the gypsies" (as Brad likes to say) yet.

Sophie was diagnosed with anxiety (I think). I have always joked that I thought Sophie could use some doggie Xanax. Well, now she is taking a doggie anti-anxiety herbal medication. The vet thinks the behavior issues are anxiety related. So, hopefully this is our answer. I started the stuff right away - can't tell yet if Sophie is more mellow. If the herbal stuff doesn't work, then doggie Xanax, it is.
