Sophie has a problem

We love our dogs (most of the time, anyway :-). Rudy is pretty easygoing and pretty smart and well behaved. And then, there is Sophie. Not the brightest bulb on the tree. Has a chronic cough and a food addiction. Sophie always acts like she hasn't been fed in weeks. If there is food, Sophie is there. She can sense it from outside that something food related is going on indoors. So, when I cook there is Emma Claire either wanting to be held or clinging to my leg and Sophie right under my feet. When I do dishes, both Sophie and Emma Claire are right there, usually trying to stand on the dishwasher door. I am trying to look it as a game rather than a pain lately. Anyway...this is life with Sophie.

Chocolate???

One of our favorite outings is Costco. What's not to like?? Lots of people for Emma Claire to wave to, buying in bulk, great meat and fish, lots of food samples, etc. You never know what you are going to bring home.
I usually get a good 15 or 20 minutes before Emma Claire loses focus and wants out of the cart. This day, they were giving out samples of Hershey bars. PERFECT! That should keep her happy until I can finish loading the cart and checking out. Rookie mistake. I look down and melted chocolate EVERYWHERE. In both hands and all over the face. Of course, no wipes with me. Fortunately, most people seemed to think it was cute (as, of course, I did) and the checkout lady gave me paper towels. Another one I didn't see coming. Made for a cute picture, though.

Pigtails

It thrilled me to no end that I was able to get Emma Claire's hair in pigtails this week. She looks like a different little girl with the new do! Endless possibilities now...ribbons, bows... The fun of having a little girl!

Still Here...

The Kadue family is still here, just fallen behind on our little blogspot. Good news - got a cord for my camera, so I can now rescue all of the photos from the camera and share some new ones with you!

Emma Claire is really starting to say more words. She likes to try to repeat words we say to her.

New words: "up", "yes", "off", "out", "quack-quack" (sort of), "ro-ro-ro" (with lips pursed...Rowie), "papa".

She loves to be outside and has thrown a couple of "fits" when she didn't get to go out right away. That, also, is new. Fits. Nothing too crazy yet, but as sweet and laid back as she is, Emma Claire wants what she wants. All part of the fun, right?

TCM 2009

It's official! Registered for the Twin Cities Marathon. October 4, 2009. 20 planned for tomorrow (Whitney is running the Team Ortho Minneapolis Marathon on May 31). Looking forward to another summer of traning!

Tax Man

The tax return is in (as of April 15, or course), thanks to Brad. Depressing, but a relief to have it behind us for another year.
Emma Claire filed her first tax return (welcome to the "real world", Emma Claire...wish we could have delayed it for you). On the "occupation" line..."milk tester" (no joke - that is the way it was turned it). Wonder what occupation she will choose by next year?

Happy Good Friday

What a georgous day it was. The sky was blue and the temps warmer. Looks like it will be a beautiful Easter weekend. I am working the weekend, so we will have to miss the Easter church service. This was always a special holiday in my family. We hope to make it the same for Emma Claire in years to come.

So, we had our "Easter" tonight. We attended a 4:30 pm Good Friday family service, which was fun. Perfect for taking Emma Claire. She put on a little show for our pew neighbors. She clapped and danced to the songs. She lasted about 30 of the 45 minutes. Not bad for her.

Before the service, Emma Claire and I stopped by the mall to visit with the Easter Bunny. I couldn't let Easter come and go without that photo. She was 4 weeks old in last year's picture. This year was quite a bit more eventful (see photo...).
