Emma Claire's second trip to the dentist... No cavities and a good report. We left with instructions from the dentist to add a brushing in the morning (Emma Claire can do that one by herself) and at night (mom and dad are to help with that one) and floss. Emma Claire took the instructions seriously and has reminded us many times "remember, the dentist said..." (why won't she take us so seriously?)

Water Balloon Pinatas
Emma Claire is brave on the monkey bars this summer. She climbs part way across, using the trapeze bar for assistance. She loves to hang upside down on them.
This night, we made water balloon pinatas (one of the items on our "Summer Bucket List - more to follow on our list). We had a hard time breaking them!

Basketball
Emma Claire just completed her second Wednesday of basketball in her Parks & Rec class, where she learned how to dribble and shoot the ball. She loves the class. Next week...t-ball!

Summer Trip South 2012
Emma Claire, Arnold and I headed south in early June to Red Bay. We had a fun filled and relaxing time in the woods of "Camp Ropa". Emma Claire thinks she wants to move there with Rowie and Opa now. After Brad picked us up when we arrived back in Minneapolis, Emma Claire was sobbing in the backseat of the car. I asked her what was wrong and she replied "I miss Rowie" (at which point I, too, teared up).
Wishing we were there all over again...

GV Fire Open House & Street Dance
One of the highlights of the summer for our family is the Golden Valley Fire Open House and Street Dance in June. It is always fun and well attended and a good time with neighbors and friends in the community.
The Saturday night street dance was a blast. The bouncy house is always a hit. Emma Claire enjoyed playing with her pals, Joe and Luke. She and Arnold enjoyed snow cones and ran around like crazy.
We stayed out late to enjoy the fireworks.
The open house at our neighborhood fire station has games, food and usually a fire demonstration (a mock kitchen fire) and a jaws of life demonstration. The kids have the opportunity to sit in the firetruck and hold a fire hose. We have quite the collection of fire hats and too big (and much loved) t-shirts.
We stayed out late to enjoy the fireworks.

Slippin' & Slidin'
Brad and Emma Claire picked up a Slip & Slide at Mendard's. It was a hit. I have distinct memories of mud, grass clippings (and minor injuries from rocks underneath) and the slip and slide in our yard.
